Shadowrun is a roleplaying game set in the dystopian near-future of 2070,a world where cyberpunk meets magic,where criminal subcultures rub shoulders with corporate elites,and where advanced technology competes with the power of spells and spirits. It is an age of high-tech lowlifes,shrouded in danger and mystery and driven by intrigue and adrenaline. Those who play in it stand on the edge,always on the cusp of adventure…

Basically,its a pencil-&-paper RPG where 2-8 players(give or take) can create character concepts of their choosing and play them out in these open-ended style settings. From guns to martial arts,from hacking the matrix to high-speed chases,all is up to the game master and the players.
But most importantly,the limits of your imagination.

For the moment,the version we were using was 4th edition. The main core book helps everyone figure out your ideas of plots to choose from or make up. It’s like being the lead character from a book/movie,making choices referring to the situation of the plot.

Part improvisational theater,part storytelling,and part game.

The Run Finale

It was silent but lit when we walked down those stairs,weapons ready and still sore from the gun drone battle. After walking down a clear hallway,we came upon five doors. The first few where to either a bedroom or a bathroom,the last one was to the cargo area.
He was waiting for us. We were expecting to fight him….but what his true form was a shock,big time. He was a cyber-zombie(cybernetic augmentation takes its toll on the mind and body,the more you get-the least you become….and he went overboard.) Already his skin was decaying,the malice in his eyes was as clear as the dark laughter in his voice. He was armored and armed with sub machine guns in each hand,one of his hands being controlled by an A.I. .
Our walking arsenal threw a phosphoric grenade at him,landing a little too close to the doorway near us as we scattered for cover. He didn’t care as he opened fired on us and near shredded us from his volley.
The attacks we did was more than gun play and melee weapons,but some in our party tried using magic against him..thought the dark aura around him was enough to resist most of our tricks.
The pyro-technomancer took the fight into cyberspace as he attacked….the program inside the c-zombie. Those that couldn’t fight(the ones nearly dying) were pulled away from the coming blast. The pixie was able to put a suggestion into the creature’s head to fall onto the grenade. With all that’s happened,the blast from the grenade destroyed his armor,but that a.i. arm was causing more damage to us. He got up and continued his assault as he fell back to the hallway. The slight-hairy,black elf(me) placed our technomancer in the bathroom so to join the fight,drawing forth his stun baton to ruin that arm before it kills us,quickly. The silver samurai started chopping at the zombie as much as he could. Those who ran to cover came back to help combine our attacks against this rotter,it was close.
Finally,we brought him down-in the matrix,body,and bound spirit. We learned that the Retro’s(a group of punks we set up a couple runs before) had created this freak and it got revenge for it by using us.
We survived,with plenty of holes in us from all that gunfire. We secured the underground rooms and found some interesting supplies that weren’t even on the black market yet. Plus,due to the loss of two vehicles(one crushed by boulders and the other with bullets in its engine),our Enclave member had claimed this place for another hideout for their group. We collected old files,useful equipment,even a fembot from the bedroom(don’t ask).
As for me,once we’ve sold these items for some well deserved cred’s,I think a bath and some bed rest is definitely in order.
Just another day in this world of magic and technology,of corporate rule and espionage….another run for us shadows.

The Run pt 3

“Our ride through the desert was less eventful,and our new passenger was a little off in the head(an understatement for a member of the Enclave.) Kicking up a cloud of dirt,we came upon a canyon that led to our destination. Our drive down cause a few of our vehicles to get stuck or land sideways. The truck which I was lucky to land on its feet. So,while getting at least one car back up,our fellow pyro was alerted by the sound of a swarm of scorpions(each one the size of a cat.) With one placed grenade,he threw it into the center of them,blasting them to bits.
Unfortunately,it began a landslide of rock of sand. With a loud warning from the Night one(me),those whose vehicle wasn’t going anywhere fast had to hitch a ride on the truck as we escaped the falling boulders. Only two vehicles made it out of that canyon,but no casualties…yet.

We saw the dome-like compound,our destination,fence covered and gun drone guarded,four of them. Our cat girl got her sniper rifle out to help take them out,but the others….no plan whatsoever as one went invisible(or jinxing pixie-wannabe),our silver samurai decided to slice open the fence-which turned out to be electrified,another went invisible to pic the electronic lock on the door and our pryo-nut(who was also a technomancer) got the first gun drone’s attention and tried to hack it.
I guarded the sniper and advanced with her. Finally,the gun drones found out and began attacking,suppressing the samurai first in a hail of light machine gun rounds,nearly killing him. One drone couldn’t work because of the techno/pyro,another was sniped through the ‘brain’ and collapsed,and the last ones gun jammed. In the end,we all got their attention,whether by gunfire or magic,even the truck got shot up. Which I chose to abandon and return fire,finally killing the wounded drone.
All were mopped up as we got inside,healing our wounds and getting ready break the lock and descend into the place.
Into a madman’s lair…”

The Run pt 2

“This monstrous creation of scape metal-welded-together had size and crushing power behind it,also a rigger to pilot it. What we had was whatever we had at our disposal:guns and a little bit of magic. Luckily,there were make-shift barricades to take cover behind against its flamethrower,but its third weapon was a mini catapult that launched a canister of gasoline at our cover.
Only the British cat-looking girl got a little cooked when both her and her cover got gassed and lit on fire.
The others made sure to jam or sabotage the flamethrower,as well as me. One more mystical accident caused it to launch its own catapult at me,only landing against the wall behind me while a bullet dented the flamethrower canister and exploded. Shoot up,blown up,and magical damage against its joints,it collapsed and the arena crowd cheered and applauded the entertainment.
And we weren’t even getting paid for this drek…
The man who caught us not only congratulated our fight,but accepted us as members of the Enclave. With some rest and our wounds healed,we set out on three custom-made vehicles and headed out to where the directions said.
To the man who set us up.”

The Run

“We were contacted by our fixer’s boss recently,finding out that the man whom we took contracts from was in fact ‘swimming with the fishes.’ So,for our benefit to get rid of this problem,he gave us information of the whereabouts of this phony. With the help of this dwarvish smuggler,we got our items and flew over the Pueblo Corporate Council border. I wasn’t long til something hit the plane and knocked us out of the sky. The landing was rough,worse for the pilot. I was half asleep with the incident happened. But when I woke up,we were captured by this anarchist-pyromaniac group call the Enclave.
Thank God it wasn’t the private military,how bad could it be?
Being place into an arena with our equipment and going up against this scraped together,mechanical ‘Rancor’ with a huge spiked-hammer fist and a flamethrower.
Swell….”

Last Weekend…

The end of the day turned out pretty well,especially after work. I swung by my friends place and waited until the others showed up for the Ironclaw game. We were thinking of doing a Shadowrun session,but game master was talked into the other one,so we did Ironclaw….In the end,my character is out cold and being carried along,plus we all got captured….to be continued,hehe.
